This was one of the closest primary races in the state, and I’m grateful that so many of you participated in this election and made your voices heard. I got into this race because I believe representative government means showing up for people—on their doorsteps, in their union halls, at their protests, and at their celebrations. One of the greatest gifts of this campaign was to meet so many of you in all of those places and to hear your stories, your concerns, and hopes for our community. Competition makes our democracy stronger. We should never be afraid to challenge the status quo or to question the people and institutions that seek to preserve it.
